The New Value of Plants

In the 1980s and 1990s, gardening was one of the fastest growing leisure activities in North America. Almost everyone was either busy in their garden or certainly had some interest in growing plants. However, as the new millennium arrived, with all its optimism, something unexpected happened – the interest in gardening flattened and has been on a decline ever since. When I mention this change to many audiences, there’s an immediate sense of disbelief, but when I point out a few key reasons, I always see heads begin to nod in understanding.
